Mardi Gras & Talent Show
Carmel celebrates Fat Tuesday with plenty of color, creativity, and a little bit of silliness. Students are welcome to come to school dressed for the occasion. Traditional Mardi Gras colors of purple, green, and gold are always popular, along with masks, hats, colorful feathers, kings, queens, jesters, folklore inspired clothing, historical costumes from the Renaissance or Baroque periods, or simply something funny and creative.
As with all Carmel celebrations, we ask that costumes be appropriate for our entire school community, keeping in mind that our students range in age from 3 to 18.
The day culminates with the Carmel Talent Show, when every student has an opportunity to share a talent with the school community. Performances are as individual as the students themselves and can take many different forms. Everyone participates, everyone gets their moment, and every now and then, the teachers even get in on the fun.
It is a day that gives students plenty of room to be creative, celebrate one another, and share a side of themselves that their classmates might not always get to see during the regular school day.
