End of October

Here at Carmel, we love tradition. It brings family and friends together to celebrate something special. This week, we’ve started getting ready for our yearly Thanksgiving Opera performance! In the past, we’ve had the erdkinder class make parody songs to go along with the story of the first Thanksgiving, and after a few years, we are bringing it back! We are also teaching the kids our traditional songs like High Winds, Spring Time, Common House, etc.

Last Friday the 23rd of October, we went on a field trip to the Art Institute in Chicago! The erdkinder and primary-elementary classes got led on two different lovely tours from the staff and also got to explore the museum on their own! The pre-primary went on a self guided tour with Mrs. Amy, Mrs. Hatch, and Mrs. Amanda!

We are developing a recipe book in the kitchen! The kids are learning how to incorporate nutritious foods into their meals while also making it taste amazing! our home economics directress, Mrs. DePue, gave a lesson to the erdkinder on different types of knives and what they are used for!

Mrs. Hatch is teaching an erdkinder film elective where we are learning proper camera work and film structure to make a documentary on the school! We are currently interviewing all the different classes about their favorite things at CMA and what they love to learn!

Halloween is coming up here shortly! The kids can’t wait! Stick around to see what happens next week!
