Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.

Carmel Montessori's indoor environments offer the child a spacious, inviting atmosphere in which to develop personally, academically, socially and physically, under the guidance of certified Montessori Directors/Directresses. The environments are carefully arranged and maintained on principles drawn from Maria Montessori's own writings. All materials are chosen to allow the child to develop his or her independence, intrinsic motivation and awareness of social responsibility.

The outdoor environments offer the child opportunities to expand his or her self-initiation and awareness of the natural world in a shady forested area, the wooden playground area, on the fifth-of-a-mile track which surrounds the back paddock, in the farm area which houses a horse, a donkey, chickens, rabbits, and other farm animals, or in the peaceful gardens and hedgerow that encompass the campus.
